The Porcupine Ceramics Postman was inspired by the funerary posts of the Giriama Tribe in Kenya. These were carved wooden posts engraved with motifs depicting the deceased’s wealth. The original posts were made out of hard wood and placed outside the man’s house. As these posts were exposed to the elements, they eroded until eventually disintegrating.
Each ceramic Postman is embellished with a Raku-fired African Mask. Mounted on display stand.
